Anti-wrinkle injections use a purified prescription medicine that temporarily relaxes the small muscles responsible for certain lines and creases. When a muscle is repeatedly active — every time you frown, squint or raise your brows — the skin above it eventually creases. By easing that muscle activity, the overlying skin is given a chance to smooth and settle.

The treatment targets dynamic lines — the ones that appear or deepen with movement. Because it works on the muscle rather than filling the line, the effect is a softening and smoothing rather than a “plumping.” Results are temporary and wear off gradually.

What to expect​

  • Preparation. The area is cleansed. Anaesthetic isn't usually needed, as the injections use very fine needles.
  • Treatment. A series of small injections is placed into the targeted muscles. The appointment is typically quick — often around 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Immediately after. Small raised bumps at the injection points settle within a short time. Minor redness or, occasionally, slight bruising can occur.
  • Results. The effect is not immediate — it begins to appear within a few days and typically reaches its full effect after around two weeks.
